Peace Love & Nursing
RSS
During and after reading your post, ‘You will never get along with everyone,’ I felt enormous understanding and compassion for you, and the challenging circumstances you must deal with as a nurse. I, too, know about the difficulties of being a nurse.
I, too, am an RN. For more than 20 years in telemetry and med-surg units I worked with patients and their families. Too many times my frustration, irritability and anger got the better of me. I also provided excellent care for the majority of people I cared for, hundreds of people.
My heart goes out to you. I hope that peace and love fill you, and dominate your actions always. When they don’t, I hope you remember you deserve to be understanding, compassionate and loving to you.
While it is true that we don’t get along with everyone, it can be true that we always love ourselves, especially when we don’t believe we deserve it. There are many ways to ‘love’ your patients and their families; perhaps the most important is loving yourself first.
Blessings to you.
Thank you for your kind words Bruce… that was a tough night and I appreciate knowing that other people have been through similar situations. In retrospect I know now how I should have handled the situation and I will have to continue to learn and be aware of these interactions in the future.
